Current Board Directors
Karma Yonten has been the Head of the Office of Performance Management under His Majesty’s Secretariat since 2015. He served as the founding CEO of Druk Holding and Investments (DHI) from 2007-2014. DHI is the holding company for the commercially oriented State Owned Enterprises, and it also makes commercial investments on behalf of the Government. In the past he served as CEO of Bhutan Electricity Authority, the regulator for the electricity sector, and as Project Manager for the construction of the Basochu Hydropower project. For a short while, he worked as a consultant in the private sector.
He currently serves on the Boards of The Royal Academy, The Royal Institute of Law, and is the Chairman of the Bank of Bhutan and Bhutan Agro Industries Limited.
He received a Fulbright Scholarship and graduated with an Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Kansas, USA. He received his MBA from Hitosubashi University, Japan.
Karma Pemba is the Director of the Cabinet Secretariat, Royal Government of Bhutan. Prior to that, he served as the Chief Transport Officer, Road Safety and Transport Authority, Ministry of Information & Communications and also served in various other capacities in the Government.
Dr. Sonam Choiden is the President of Gedu College of Business Studies, Royal University of Bhutan. She is skilled in Research, Sustainable Development, Stata, Program Evaluation. She has a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Economics of Happiness and GNH from QUT Business School, Queensland University of Technology, Australia.
He has Bachelors Degree with Honours in Surveying & Geoinformatics from University of South Australia, Adelaide, Masters in Geographic Information System from Curtin University, Perth and Masters in Public Management from Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, Singapore and Harvard Kennedy School of Government, US.
Prior to TTPL, he served as a Board Director in NRDCL and WCCL.
Ujjwal Dahal is the Director of Innotech Department, Druk Holding & Investment Ltd. He is a Fulbright fellow from Massachusetts Institute of Technology(MIT), Cambridge in Technology Policy and Management. He started his professional career in 2002 with Bhutan Power Corporation Ltd., which is a public electrical utility in Bhutan. He has Masters of Science (Electrical Engineering) degree from University of New Brunswick, Canada and Bachelor of Engineering from PSG College of Technology, India and is a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) from PMI, USA. His experience, expertise and interests are in the areas of energy policy & markets; project management; energy system planning & design; strategic technology planning; smart cities; and data driven system designs.
Dr. Tshering Cigay Dorji has been heading the operation and management of Thimphu TechPark since it was launched in 2012. With his deep passion for technology and youth entrepreneurship, he has been instrumental in making the IT Park a vibrant place where hundreds of youth work. Since 2019, he has played the crucial role of transforming Thimphu TechPark Ltd. into an IT company besides managing the Technology Park, and now leads a team of over 30 IT professionals undertaking various software projects in Bhutan. He has Ph.D in computer engineering (NLP and text mining) from the University of Tokushima, Japan, and Master of Management from the University of Canberra.

Jigme Thinley Namgyal
Mr. Jigme Thinlye Namgyal currently serves as the Director General of the Department of Disaster Management, Royal Government of Bhutan. He is a trained demographer who has extensive experience working in many government agencies since 1993.He is also very passionate about technology having worked as the Project Director of G2C Project (2010-2011), a large scale e-Government project that automated 150 public services improving both accessibility and delivery of services, and later as the Director General of the Department of IT & Telecom (2016-2018) during which he was instrumental in consolidating the IT services through whole of government approach making connectivity reliable and more affordable. He also served as the Director of the Department of Labour (2012-2015) and improved occupational health and safety standards and working condition for the workers.
In his current position, he is on a mission to improve disaster risk reduction and enhance preparedness and response through the application of technology. He is a true public servant with a deep passion to help improve the lives of his fellow citizens.
Mr. Karma Tshewang is currently working as the Director of Technical Department in Bhutan Telecom. He joined the erstwhile Department of Telecom under Ministry of Communications in 1996 after graduating with a bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from PennState University, USA. Even after the Department of Telecom was corporatized as Bhutan Telecom Ltd. in July 2000, he has continued to work there in various capacities and has vast experience in the telecom industry. He has been instrumental in developing telecommunication network in the Kingdom of Bhutan, in particular, in the extension of telecom services to the rural communities of Bhutan.
Mr. Karpo Tshering has been serving full time as a Senior Manager, Corporate Services Division, Druk Holding & Investments since January 2018. He previously served as the Manager of Information Technology Unit of the same organization. He has extensive experience in the field of Information Technology services having led SAP ERP Implementation for DHI Group and some of its companies. He has Bachelors of Computer Science (Honours) from Sherubtse College (2005) and Master of Computing, with specialization in Software Engineering, from the Australian National University, Canberra (2017).
Mr. Passang Dorji served as the Director of the Department of Investments in Druk Holding and Investments (DHI). He headed business development, projects and private sector division. He has an Engineering Degree from Thammasat University, Thailand and a MBA Degree from Asian Institute of Management, Philippines. He has a PG diploma in Management Information System and Management Control from MSM, Netherlands. He started his career in the private sector, then moved to Bhutan Power Corporation and was the Company Secretary prior Druk Holding and Investments. Passang is on the Board of Bank of Bhutan and previously, he has served as a board director in Bhutan Telecom and State Trading Corporation of Bhutan.
Mr. Dorji Nima was a Senior Analyst responsible for Corporate Performance at DHI. Before that, he worked as an Analyst for DHI’s Consulting Services Unit for more than two years. He has a Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Australian Graduate School of Entrepreneurship, Melbourne, Australia. He received RGoB scholarship to pursue Bachelor of Business Administration in Madras University, India in 2001.
Karma Sonam Dorji
Mrs. Karma Sonam Dorji served as a Senior Analyst in DHI, under Department of Investments before she resigned in 2014. Ms. Dorji worked in the government for 10 years, before joining DHI, as a Senior Trade Officer heading the Export Promotion and as Project Manager for EC-Bhutan Trade Capacity Development. She was a Task Force Member involved in formulation of the Economic Development Policy of Bhutan and Committee Member for Foreign Direct Investment Review Committee and Industrial Project Appraisal Committee. Also Looked after the Bilateral and Regional Trading Arrangements (India, Bangladesh, Nepal, SAPTA/SAFTA and BIMSTEC). Was also a key Member of the Negotiating Team for Bhutan’s accession to the WTO when the process was in progress. She has an MBA in International Business and Management from Hanzehogeschool, University of Applied Sciences, Groningen, The Nethelands, and BA in International Business Administration from Reitaku University, Japan.
Mr. Dorji Khandu received his MBA degree from The Hague University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands. He started his career as a civil servant in the Department of Revenue and Customs under the Ministry of Finance (MoF). Mr. Dorji joined Druk Holding and Investments after resigning from the civil service. Before he resigned to pursue his own business venture, he was working as Sr. Business Analyst under the Department of Investment in Druk Holding And Investments Limited (DHI).
Mr. Dawa Sonam was then the IT Head at Druk Holding and Investments (DHI). He started his career as an Engineer at Bhutan Telecom in 2004, and gradually rose to the positions of Manager at DrukNet, and then Head of Billing and International Affairs prior to joining DHI in 2015. He has Masters in Information Technology and Postgraduate Diploma in Internetworking and Security from Murdorch University, Western Australia. He did his Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Madras University, India.
Michael D. Holland
Michael D. Holland, FRICS, is an industry leader who has been at the forefront of professional real estate services in South Asia for over a decade. He has 25 years of international experience in commercial real estate in Asia, Europe and the USA. Since 2007, he has held the position of Chief Executive Officer of Assetz Property Group, focused on driving the growth of the company across diverse sectors including office, retail, hotel and residential. Mike is on the Board of Director for a number of companies in the real estate domain and is a member of the Investment Committee for Prudential ICICI India Real Estate Fund as well as holding the position of Learning Chair for Corenet Global India Chapter. He is also a member of the RICS India External Affairs Board. Prior to Assetz, Mike has worked in senior positions in Asia Pacific with Microsoft Corporation and Jones Lang LaSalle.
Mr. Nidup Dorji was a Director of TTPL and Chief Executive Officer of Bhutan Telecom Limited (BTL). An alumnus of the prestigious Oxford University, UK, he took over as the CEO of BTL in 2011 after an illustrious career spanning 20 years in the civil service and academia. Prior to joining BTL, he was the Director of College of Science and Technology, the Royal University of Bhutan.
Pushpa Mani Pradhan
Mr. Pushpa Mani Pradhan is currently working as the Director of Technical Department in Bhutan Telecom. He joined the erstwhile Department of Telecom under Ministry of Communications in 1988 after graduating with a bachelors degree of engineering in Electronics and Communications from Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra, Ranchi, India. Even after the Department of Telecom was corporatized as Bhutan Telecom Ltd. in July 2000, he has continued to work there in various capacities and has vast experience in the telecom industry. He has been instrumental in developing telecommunication network in the Kingdom of Bhutan starting from open wire days to the modern digital communications systems.
