1. Bhutan’s Entrepreneurship and Innovation Hub
The Bhutan Innovation and Technology Centre (BITC) is a unique opportunity for new businesses and entrepreneurial development in Bhutan. The BITC will shortly be inviting applications from creative and driven people to start their own enterprises in the BITC Business Incubator. By helping these entrepreneurs and small start-up businesses overcome the obstacles to business growth, BITC plans to fulfil its mission of contributing to the sustainable economic growth, job creation and regional development of Bhutan.
2. Business Incubation at its Core
The BITC Business Incubator is one of three components that make up the BITC, along with a Shared Services Centre and a Data Centre.
3. Take Advantage of Quality Office Space and Infrastructure
By locating operations in the BITC Business Incubator new businesses will be located in Bhutan’s first information technology park, Thimphu Tech Park, just outside the capital city. You will be provided with first class office space and services depending on the individual requirements for you and you staff. For start-up firms, the office space will initially be offered at below market rates to allow your company to invest the maximum possible in growing you business rather than overheads. As time goes on, and your start-up develops into a fully-fledged enterprise, costs of occupation will rise but the services and other perks that come with operating in BITC will remain available.
4. Comprehensive Business Services
The Bhutan Innovation and Technology Centre (BITC) is a unique opportunity for new businesses and entrepreneurial development in Bhutan. The BITC will shortly be inviting applications from creative and driven people to start their own enterprises in the BITC Business Incubator. By helping these entrepreneurs and small start-up businesses overcome the obstacles to business growth, BITC plans to fulfil its mission of contributing to the sustainable economic growth, job creation and regional development of Bhutan.To help you run your business as efficiently as possible, access to a diverse range of business services and advice will be at your disposal including:
- Business strategy and planning
- Human resources
- Corporate finance
- Marketing/media relations
- Intellectual property rights management
Where possible these services will be provided internally, however external service providers will also be made available to ensure the highest quality and availability.
5. Become part of a strong network of peers
As one of the tenants in the BITC Business Incubator, your enterprise will be one of a handful of carefully selected businesses, providing a platform for collaboration and networking in an environment of mutual respect and learning. The BITC provides open, collegial areas, such as an E-CafÃ©, which serve as a space where other entrepreneurs, business people and visitors can meet and discuss ideas in a relaxed informal atmosphere. These colleagues and peers will be able to share with you their expertise, experiences or services and in this way help broaden your perspective and array of business opportunities.
6. Link in to Thimphu’s business community
The BITC is the hub for local and national networking between Bhutan’s numerous stakeholders in enterprise and entrepreneurship development. The first of these networks will comprise external business service providers. The second will comprise finance providers such as banks, equity funds, business angels, etc. Finally, a local and international network of universities, other business incubators, private companies, NGOs, and more will round out the different stakeholders who will be engaged by the BITC.
7. Get Mentored by the Best
Once housed in the BITC Business Incubator, your business will be paired with an experienced mentor from your relevant field or business sector to help guide you through the challenge of starting a business and act as an advisor to your crucial decisions. In addition to the mentoring you will have regular meetings with the BITC Incubator Manager to monitor the progress of the business, keep you on track and help you manage your future growth.
8. Gain Access to Debt and Equity Finance
The BITC will build strong relationships with finance providers (banks, international organisation, equity funds) to help bridge the information gap between you and the provider. Assistance and advice will be given to help you effectively pitch and apply for finance.
‘Enjoy the services of the Shared Technology Center’
The comprehensive facilities offered by the Shared Technology Centre will be at your full disposal including use of meeting and conference rooms. The Shared Technology Centre will host various courses, networking events and product launches – open to all businesses in Thimphu – which will allow you to gain exposure to your products/services and business.
The Shared Technology Centre will also include an e-Incubation service, which will provide business advice online including information on gaining access to finance and other business and entrepreneurial development services in Bhutan.
