Bhutan Startup Launchpad (BSL), BITC’s flagship program, supports high-potential startups through training, mentorship, and seed funding. It is a national initiative co-led by the Department of Employment and Entrepreneurship (DoEE) under the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Employment (MoICE), in partnership with BITC, Thimphu TechPark Limited (TTPL), and ecosystem partners, contributing to Bhutan’s 13th Five-Year Plan goal of driving sustainable economic growth.
The 2026 event was held from March 18-20 under the theme “Digital Horizons: Building a Prosperous Bhutan through Emerging Technologies.” The theme reflects Bhutan’s commitment to leveraging emerging technologies to drive sustainable economic growth and social well-being.
The event aimed to strengthen the startup and innovation ecosystem by promoting technology-driven entrepreneurship, fostering collaboration among startups, investors, and industry stakeholders, and encouraging the adoption of innovative solutions across sectors. It also focused on creating meaningful employment opportunities, particularly for those not in education, employment, or training (NEET), while supporting economic diversification and contributing to inclusive, sustainable development aligned with Bhutan’s Gross National Happiness values.
4. Current Incubatees/Portfolio
BITC currently hosts 9 incubatees: 6 are winners of the Bhutan Startup Launchpad 2026, 1 is an FDI company, and 2 are incubatees who have expressed interest and reached out to join the program.
a) Astro Bhutan
Astro Bhutan is a technology-driven venture that bridges modern space science with Bhutan’s rich celestial heritage. It aims to revolutionize the tourism sector by introducing immersive stargazing experiences, leveraging Bhutan’s pristine natural environment to create a unique niche offering. The initiative seeks to position Bhutan as a destination for astro-tourism while promoting scientific awareness and cultural appreciation.
b) Aplos Lab
Aplos Lab is developing Bhutan’s first multilingual AI model capable of translating English into local dialects such as Sharchop, Khengkha, Kurtöp, Bumthap, and others. The venture addresses two critical challenges: the gradual loss of Bhutanese dialects among younger generations and the digital exclusion of citizens who cannot access essential services—such as government platforms, banking, and technology—in their native languages. By enabling inclusive and localized digital access, Aplos Lab aims to preserve linguistic heritage while improving service accessibility.
c) Fungi Flow Ecosystem
This venture This venture offers an IoT-based, climate-controlled mushroom cultivation system using insulated PUF grow units. The system automatically regulates temperature, humidity, and CO₂ levels to ensure optimal growing conditions, resulting in higher yields and consistent production. By providing smart growth containers for commercial farmers, the solution reduces crop loss, improves efficiency, and increases profitability in mushroom farming.
d) NOri
NOri is a centralized digital marketplace connecting plant buyers and sellers across Bhutan. The platform enhances accessibility, transparency, and trust within the plant market by streamlining transactions and improving market visibility. NOri aims to modernize the sector while supporting plant enthusiasts, nurseries, and small-scale sellers.
e) Northuen
Northuen is anon-demand errand and delivery platform tailored for Bhutan, initially launching in Thimphu. It connects users requiring services—such as food delivery, grocery pickup, and parcel transport—with individuals already commuting within the city, including taxi drivers, students, and other urban movers. By optimizing existing mobility, Northuen reduces inefficiencies in last-mile delivery, creates flexible earning opportunities, and strengthens the local urban service ecosystem.
f) VIHelp
VIHelp is developingan affordable, AI-powered assistive technology for visually impaired individuals. Its core product is a compact, wearable device that uses embedded AI to deliver real-time object detection, distance estimation, and audio feedback. Designed to function offline, the device ensures reliability in low-connectivity environments. Built on efficient edge computing hardware, VIHelp offers a low-cost, scalable solution, with the current prototype capable of detecting over 80 indoor and outdoor objects. The venture aims to enhance independence, safety, and accessibility for underserved communities.
